Hey folks, it is looking like a busy week in Woolly Land.

Here is a peak at the agenda:

  1. Monday – SNOW!
  2. Wednesday – Group Ride
  3. Thursday – Woolly Board meeting
  4. Saturday – Solstice Chase

And if any of that interests you, and it should, here are the details.

Monday – Snow

Yep, as I left for work this morning it was snowing pretty good.  I’m not sure how much we got, but it should freshen everything up just that much more.  If you haven’t ventured up to Woolly Land from the Twin Cities, we definitely have more snow up here so come check it out.

Wednesday – Night Fat Ride – 6pm – Woolly Trailhead

Woolly Board Member at Large Elect Greg Gentle will be leading our Wednesday night fat bike ride.  Grab those lights, air down those tires, and meet Greg (and probably some other club members) at the trailhead at 6pm.  Last week we had 5 of us out riding and had a great time.  The trails should be even more dialed this week so you should check it out.

No group pictures from the dark group ride last week, but here is Jason out Sunday afternoon.

Thursday – Woolly Board Meeting – 7pm – SCF Library

Thursday evening Matt will be leading the last board meeting of 2017 and his last as Chair of the Woolly Board.  We all want to thank Matt for his years of steadfast service to the Woolly.  Thankfully Matt won’t be going far and will still be heading up the Woolly Race as Race Director.

Everyone is welcome to attend these board meetings.  If you have any interest in the Woolly operations or an interest in getting more involved please come.  We promise to make you feel welcome.  Now is a great time to get involved as we will be turning over a number of board positions based on the elections last month and we start looking at how to make Woolly even better next year.  There are lots of opportunities for people with all sorts of skills.

One quick note, normally we meet in the “back room” on the south end of the library.  This time we are meeting in the bigger room on the north end so enter through the main library entrance this week.

Saturday – Solstice Chase

Lastly, but certainly not leastly, Saturday is the kick-off of the Great Lakes Fat Bike Series and the Solstice Chase, hosted right on the Woolly Trails.  Online registration is closed, but you can still very much register the morning of.  Head on over Woolly Sponsor CyclovaXC for all of the latest news on the course, schedule, and registration information.

And if you aren’t interested in racing, it is a great race to spectate.  With the long race lapping through the Woolly Trailhead 3 times and the short race twice, you don’t have to go far to see lots of action.  And the trailhead is about 100 yards from the start/finish.

And if you want to spectate AND help, I’m positive there are opportunities to volunteer still available.  Head over to the Sponsor/Volunteer Page to hit Steve up to get involved.  I’ll be out there and I hope to see all of you there as well in some capacity racing, spectating, or volunteering.
