Woolly Bike Club News: Spring 2025
Hello, Woolly Land!
This year the Woolly Race will be held on June 22. This event is a major fundraiser for our trails and organization. This year’s race will be the 18th year! This blows my mind and is a great reminder of how quickly time can pass. We will need any help that you and your friends and family might be able to provide, so please join us!
The 2025 season will be one of growth for our trails and us as an organization. Work is underway behind the scenes to start the process for a professional evaluation that will guide us through planning and ultimately updating our beloved Woolly Trails. It’s too early to be able to provide accurate details, but we can certainly share the vision.
Mountain biking has evolved. Popular trails now include riding that is geared for gravity and free-riding. Jumps, drops, and other skill-directed features abound in our area, yet are missing from Woolly. At our core we still love riding cross country, and there is no intention to move away from this aspect of our trails. Yet there is room for balance, and we seek to improve the skilled aspect of our trail system. Additionally, Woolly Bike Club wants to remain attractive to the entire family. So as part of the updating process we will be looking for opportunities to include space for kids. We envision a pump track or small course that would be fun and suitable for kids on striders or smaller bikes. A spot that parents can bring the “littles” to burn off energy and foster the love for bikes that we all have. We think this will benefit St Croix Falls not only as a tourist destination, but also to improve quality of life for residents, making St Croix Falls a great place to live and play.
Change takes time, but it also takes effort! Woolly Bike Club is in need of more “hands” in order to bring these visions to life. There is room for every level of commitment, skill, and experience. If you are interested in lending a hand and being a part of this evolution, please reach out. We are fun. I promise!
See you on the trails.
Go Woolly!
