A heads up to our silent sport community. There is another initiative to make the Gandy Dancer trail motorized year round. If this is a topic that interests you, please see the below information shared by the Friends of Gandy Dancer group.
A last minute special meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 22nd at 2:00pm at the County Government Center in Balsam Lake. There is a resolution on the agenda requesting ATV/UTV’s be allowed on the Gandy Dancer YEAR ROUND. Please let the Polk County Board of Supervisors know you want to keep the Gandy non-motorized (as it is now) during the summer.
Please do one or more of the following:
1. Call as many Supervisors as you can. Contact info for each official is available at: https://www.co.polk.wi.us
2. Attend and speak during Public Comment (3 min max).
3. Submit your comments to the County Clerk via email: countyclerk@co.polk.wi.us.
Ask that your email be distributed to all Board members.
Tell them how you use the trail, why it’s important to you and attach a photo of your trail experience if you have any.
If the Board allows year round motorized use there is no doubt this decision will put an end to most if not all of our family friendly runs, hikes, events, geocaching, you name it.
