**Woolly Update as of 3/19/18**
**The Woolly trails are officially CLOSED**
What a difference a couple of weeks can make! Parts of the trail are still looking pretty good as of early this week, but enough of the trail has given way to mud or ice for it to be unsafe and irresponsible to stay open any longer. Many parts of the trail that have fully melted are not fully re-freezing overnight, so it’s important that we stay off in order to protect the trails from serious damage. The Gandy Dancer also has long sections that have melted, and the exposed limestone surface is really soft as well. So, until the frost goes out, and the ground dries up, the Woolly trails are officially closed.
It’s been a great run!!! We had a great season full of great riding, and our trail groomer Bjorn Vintergruven can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
We have some really cool things in the works for next year- some of which we can’t talk about just yet, but we can say the we’re working toward more groomed single track, while getting the Woolly off of the Gandy Dancer trail. It’s going to be a big year for the Woolly! Stay tuned for more details on that, and please consider coming out and lending a hand out on the trail when the time comes!
Much thanks to our volunteers who helped to make Woolly Fat awesome this year!
Also, much thanks to our awesome community of trail users, who stayed off when it was warm out, adjusted their tire pressures to match the snow conditions, and who also helped to spread the word about winter etiquette. This year, Woolly Fat was a perfect example of what a well-groomed fat bike-only trail system can be when everyone works together to keep it awesome for everyone else!!!!
Until next year….
